UK PAPERBACK OUT NEXT MONTH!

I'm pleased to confirm that the UK paperback of Hand Me My Travelin' Shoes - which includes various updates and other minor changes to the hardback text - is due to be published by Bloomsbury in London on October 6. Yesterday I received the finished version of the front cover (see above) which I think looks terrific.

Still, alas, very much looking forward to reading your McTell book. I guess I've been waiting to either A) come across it spontaneously in Down Home Records in El Ceritto, CA, or B) hear that there is an American ed. forthcoming. Until then, I read your online updates with great interest, and thank you for the staggering amount of original research you've done on McTell and on Dylan. A gift to all of us who live with these songs/singers.
I agree the new cover looks great, but nothing tops the beautiful yet chilling new photo of McTell that I saw for the first time on the cover of the UK hardcover.

Dear John
Thank you for these warm, kind comments. But as for waiting for a US edition, please don't hold your breath. It's frustrating, but there's nothing happening yet.

BUT! Why don't you just go to amazon.co.uk and buy the new UK paperback from there? They're selling it so cheaply - £5.99, which is a mere $12 or $13 - that even when you add the airmail postage charge, it's still, if I may say so, a real bargain! And you'd have it in a week's time...

Even simpler, do this by clicking on the box somewhere on the right-hand side of the page on my blog. If you buy the book via that box, I even get a tiny percentage of the price from amazon!

Up to you, of course. And meanwhile thank you again for bothering to write in.
